FIRST WEEK BACK | SUBJECTS | N2

heyhey,

this post will be mainly comprised of life updates and less of food but yeahhhh lets get on with it!

so first week back at school was a blur.
  • timetable was okay but not so good
  • fell asleep in modern on day two
  • fell asleep in english on day three - tried so hard to stay awake obviously couldn't even though the talk was really interesting
but really- biggest thing was dropping out of 3 unit English. I have honestly been thinking about this for the past term after deciding to do 11 units but this holidays for me was spent on 3u english so much that I felt like i understood the unit so well and I liked my related text and it just feels like I could do so well. Plus I had Cathy who tutored me and I liked her approach to teaching and just feel so comfortable and at ease about the unit.
But then someone else dropped it and told me the 'logic' to it. and I don't usually follow people's thinking and get swayed so easily but then i understood that there really was no point to doing the unit.

i initially chose it as a 'safety net' unit to my other units. I was going pretty well at english to begin with from last year so I thought that if I was to flunk out on any subject, english might pull me up. But thinking about it again, if I really desperately want a 99+ i gotta do well for all my subjects regardless so in a way, I really don't have a safety net with that 1 unit.
so even though i enjoy it, why waste time when I already have modern, textiles and 4u maths.
so yeah, went to see harrison and changed and told cathy who was really supportive but arghh!
I don't know why but I'm feeling both good and bad at the same time.

But yeah- knew that i'd be feeling shit today so went out in the arvo with the others to get N2.
best fucking decision ever.

my babies
so we got the
FERRERO REVEAL ($8) - left- fucking beauty the gelato had nuts in it and its dipped with a top layer of choco & nuts like ferrero roche style with a syringe with choc ganash on it and a wafer

ICED LEMON CHOINESE TEA SORBET ($6) - middle- it melted quickly because of the weather but it was so refreshing huehuehue

MATCHA ARUKI ($6)- right- green tea gelato with red bern omfg yes

so the two $6 flavours were specials because of Chinese New Year so that was pretty cool, and most of the shops around the city had special CNY stands so it just makes it a whole lot cooler.

EXCITED TO GO OUT ON SUNDAY NIGHT FOR MORE CNY FESTIVITIES!
but yeah, now gotta prep for tmrs 6hrs of maths with terry lee or another 3 fucking terms cry.

charlie & co | happylab | messina

was ppose to post this 2 weeks ago, but drafted it instead so here:

                                                                  \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

hey y'all
I haven't really done much today, so this post will pretty much be the most productive thing i've done hahahas.

today me and tina decided to go out and have some sister bonding time in the city cause we espeicially wanted to check out sydney festival at hyde park(especially the rekorderlig booth hahahs). but what was an aimless walk around qvb stocking up on lush and happylab saw us walking to hyde park hungry and desperately for food- then walking out in disappointment as we realised that sydney fest starts at 4.30pm and now 3 hours beforehand.

so we ate our sadness away with charlie & co. burgers at westfield sydney!

Had to add this pic in cause the fries were too photogenic

me and tina were initially thinking of food hopping, so we'd only order a person's share of food at charlie & co. and grab the rest at someplace else. But urrrrrgh was this so filling and delicious.

we chose their roadside chicken burger (panko-herb crumbed free-range chicken breat with mixed lead lettuce, rippened tomato and aioli) which was friggin amazing from the first bite. with that, we had parmesan and truffle fries which left us feeling full, satistified, and flabby at the same time.

Although we didn't have any space left for lunch hopping, we were still keen on desert. So we walked around to museum, caught a bus, and walked for 10minutes all the way to Gelato Messina at Darlinghurst. But it was all worth it.
We ended trying Blood Orange sorbet and two seasonal flavours: Lychee Martini Sorbet and Alfajores. FUAAAARKING good. the lychee is perfect for just too many ways and the atmosphere itself is adorbs and warm (your server would give you samples non stop)

Then we went next door and had cake HAHAHAHS
Here "My Big Fat Green Paddlepop" which was like a green paddlepop ( made of white choc) followed by the flavours Cucumber $ Lime, Yoghurt and Blood Orange.

THAT SEEMS TO BE IT! PRODUCTIVITY x10000

TEA CEREMONIES | SANGRIA | FEELS LIKE WE ONLY GO BACKWARDS

  • had tutoring with cathy. cathy > aaron omg shes so nice i can't believe i only properly talked til now
  • 3u english is killing me though
  • afterwards came to chens - went to get pizza and made sangria with sarah & maddie
  • my sangria taste nice- SUCCESSSS
  • discovered my love for almond milk
  • all day eryday almond milk
  • chen's dad taught me how to properly pour chinese tea with the full chinese tea set hehehehehe
  • made nutella crepes but it doesnt taste like the ones at town hall
  • lazily chilled, and thats why this song totally suits the mood of today

going back to school tomorrow to get on with my textiles. i'm so fucked and so tired i think i've already burnt out hahahas.
but weirdly i'm excited to go back. can't wait for my frees to go out and eat, sleep, chill HAHAHAHHAS.
i really want this year to be great- regardless of mark i just want to do my best and feel proud of myself for trying and not necessarily being the best out of the best.

so here's my school/hsc year resolution
  • do maths everyday without fail- no falling asleep in kalinas class anymore!
  • modern history- do much better, talk to ms cooke. show lunney that no im better than 20/25 and keep being ranked 2nd overall
  • English- be betterpls
  • textiles- do good. stay on my game.
  • umat drills every night
  • stay on top of terry lee
is this too much to ask? argh. workwrokworkworkowkorw

ICE SKATING | FESTIVAL | JAPFOOD

Reaaaally good day today.
A couple of us went out for our last fun trip before hsc year.
Firstly went ice skating and faced my biggest fear. Have not gone back to that place ever since year 6 and fell on my butt and spent the whole time on the wall.
So at first it was fucking hideous and then it got better and ended up being able to skate off the wall solo for a while hahahahas. didn't fall off my buuuuttt! i think thats all that matters HAHAHAHS.

Then went to sydney fest at hyde park at the messina stall. Sooo fucking good omfg.
So we got the Twist Hot Dog, which was: a milk chocolate gelato hot dog, served in a warm finger bun with essential condiments passionfruit 'mustard', raspberry 'ketchup' and buttercream 'mayo', and coconut 'onions'. It was okay, we didn't like it much hahas.

Messinaweiner (Pluto Pup)- baton of mapon syrup gelato coated in pancake batter, deep fried and crispy- dipper in plum sauce.
Soooo fucking good omfg i saw this on a blog and made a mental reminder to get it. sososos good.

GELATOFFEE APPLES- green apple sorbet, with a caramel milk chocolate glazed candy apple red finish
Soooo good too! its hard to bite in cause its so cold but yeah so good speechless.

EYESCREAM LOLLYPOPS- redskin, banana and pop rocks.
So if you don't know me I'm a sucker for pop rocks and this is just totally awesome. The lollypop looks real good with its pink/yellow swirl and at the back there's a plate of banana pop rocks which is just superb.
Then went to Kansai and did the all you can eat and had so much sushi and just died in ecstasy. So yeah, don't expect a good pic cause everyone was eatting so much we didn't have a chance to take any ahahahs. this all you can eat 'buffet' isn't like any other normal buffet you'd go to where you'd come out to a stalls of food and pick your portions. It works like a normal restaurant where you'd order plates that have a set price. Yet if you get the $29.50 buffet option you can pretty order as much as you want. overall, pretty good. I've been eatting clean and smaller portions for the last few weeks so i was pretty full by the halfway mark but still kept eatting cause there's so much food and the group wanted to eat more than our price's worth.
( 6 kids = $180 omfg)
their sushi is nice but they overprice every dish, which makes you think that you're eatting more than you paid when it's really not true. For example, one sushi roe nigiri (which tasted crap) was $3 for one! like one piece of cut up sushi roll. so yeah, pretty smart of them.
Other than the sushi roe nigiri and some soba noodles with the sauce that taste like water, everything was real good ( especially their 'spider' sushi set (crab inside out sushi) )
First time in a while i actually went in a food coma where i felt so sleepy on the train and had a food 'walk of shame' to the car. (when you feel bloated and have a food baby)

Going back home to figure out tina had apple cider for me hehehehehehe.
Good daaaaaay :))

Chillin' By The Fire While We Eating Fondue / Chocolateria San Churros, Harbourside

HAHAHAHAHS sorry i just felt like Justin Biebering this post I'm sorry.

Soooooooo, today after the Craft Fair, me, Xin and fellow sweet-tooth Kim went to the cult favourite Chocolateria San Churros to taste their churros that have been repeatedly posted and uploaded on Instagram hahahahs.

Walking in the shop, there was a very warm and cosy feeling, with pretty dimmed lights and nice wooden furniture with pillows and all.
But just one thing was pretty disappointing- our table was not cleaned, and so were most of the tables surrounding us. We saw a lady coming around clearing the tables yet she did not even wipe them down, so we huddled to one corner of our table, hoping it was clean ahahhas.

Image from urbansociety.com.au
We already had lunch and only wanted to try out a bit so we ordered the Fondue for Two, which costed $19.95
Fondue For Two
Came with: 6 mini dippin' churros, bowls of bananas, strawberries, nougats, peanut butter, 2 brownies, some pretzels and marshmallows, and a bowl of choc fondue (which you can choose from milk, dark and white)

to be honest the chocolate was preeeeetty sweet (and i dont even know how people could order a huge cup of that and drink it in a whole) which made dipping bananas and nougats into it seem a bit too much. The churros were quite nice though and the pretzels, but i'm pretty sure the pretzels weren't made there.

All in all, it was a nice experience but, judging from the size of the plate (which tbh is pretty small compared to the photo) as well as the chocolate, I don't think it was worth the price we paid. And technically not counting Xin since she could not eat sweets too much, it took me and Kim not very long to finish it all, especially the chocolate as we were only given fondue forks and had quite a bit of chocolate left.

FAT FRIDAYS

so, knowing me, i have been going on a lot of food adventure in the last month but haven't blogged about it so here it is, a bootiful compilation.

So on the last friday of exam week, Annie and I decided to head out to the city after our orals to go food gawking. There was the friday markets at Chinatown so Annie became my guide for the food adventure.

Our first stop was this nice food booth in Chinatown that sold Japanese Pancakes. To me it looked like a bigger version of a custard ball with a nice waffle shell. They had 4 flavours available: Red bean, Green Tea, Custard, Cheese, and with a price of 3 for $5, it was a pretty good deal. We got 2 Green Teas and One Custard - for Annie's sis- and the Green Tea tasted absolutely nice.

Then we went to Hana Hana, a jap restaurant at the far end of Chinatown. I've been there before on a trip with the group but never got to eat anything because i was pressed for time, so decided to go dine there. The restaurant is very spacious, with two levels; one for savoury meals and upstairs is like a dessert room.

We ordered the Beef Okonomiyaki, which was like a Jap savoury pancake which was so absolutely nice for such a little price and also got Tempura Flakes and Red Ginger as free sides. And they had a reall good system there as well; if you clean your table up and put all the bowls onto one of the designated shelves, you are able to collect stamps and, once you reach 5, you can give free soba with the next meal. It's a pretty good initiative i reckon.

Then we went upstairs cause Annie wanted to show me the Mochi waffles.

Annie's amazing Photog

We grabbed the Strawberry Mochi Waffle, which came with icecream and whipped cream for around $6. It tasted really nice so I guess it was worth the price.

We then went to Regents Place, a small alleyway which is rich in good authentic food of different backgrounds. Since the day became a little Jap cuisin adventure, Annie took me to Chanoma Cafe, which specializes in pretty much EVERYTHING green tea.

Although it also sells hotdogs, it was our first time coming here to order dessert so we ordered the Matcha Frape ($5.80) and the Matcha Fruit Anmitsu ($6.90)

Annie's fab photo again!

Although it looked so appetizing, we didn't think it was that great. The Matcha Frappe is quite bitter- maybe a good thing for the Matcha freaks- and although the top of the Anmitsu looked amazing, underneath was filled with plain jelly cubes and the thick syrup was not much help. The small bowl was not worth the $6.90 price to be honest.

And then i got pressed on time and had to leave again hahas. But that marks me and Annie's first food adventure wootdawoooooot.

yesterday was me and kim's food adventure number idek hahas.
We initially wanted to go on the monorail because we had a coupon that would expire today, and I wanted to show her some nice food at the friday markets, but we ended up adlib-ing our trip.

we went to get our 1litre meetfresh first as our drink. Which costed us $6. It was quite worth the price but the dodgy cup ended up breaking and spilted some of the drink on our way walking to the monorail.

I also took Kim to buy the Jap pancakes and we got the the Red Bean, Green Tea, and Custard one. The Red Bean tasted okay but we prefered the Green Tea above all.

Also snacked at Maccas hahahas.

Food Junkies
Went 1 and a half circles on the monorail and half of our trip was in a carriage by ourselves so it was pretty fun and we made a documentary hahahs.

Then hiked back to Bankstown to get some froyo even though our stomachs could barely fit anymore.

fun times on fat fridays :)

Matt Zzang/Noggi Foodout

hello :)
So i was finishing my previous blog post and i realised that it was pretty much all snacking at Strathfield, which doesn't cover lunch, SO I WILL BE COVERING LUNCHING AT STRATHFIELD. ahahahs yeah, plus i'm pretty bored.

So Strathfield is filled with many korean restaurants on, on my first time going to eat with kim, i really wasn't sure of where to go eat because all the places looks delicious and they were all very affordable.

So Kim and I went to Matt Zzang, this restaurant on the main street. And so, in the halfies week, when me, Kim, Jasmine and Chenzo went to go eat, we went back to Matt Zzang because it was pretty good :) So we ordered a beef dish for $12 and dukkboki for $6 - plus an extra bowl of rice for $2- (something like that i forgot).

Side dishes
For the first time comers, you'd think they'd only give you what you order because that's what all other restaurants are like, but it's totally different. They brought out side dishes!! There was Kimchi, salted seaweed- which tastes really good even though it sounds ..pretty exotic ahahas, korean jelly, and pickled beansprout.
Kimchi

Korean Jelly

Salted Seaweed- sorry for the bad photog.
And then the beef dish came out :)
Beef Dish

The beef dish is pretty big for a 4 people crew - and it was pretty shocking how we saw one lady eating something the same size by herself- but the sauce of the dish was absolutely nice. sososososos noice. This though, is spiceless because chenzo isn't chilli tolerant. If you guys are spice tolerant though, i really recommend the spicy pork dish (for the same price of $12 as well). it honestly is delicious and very worth the price :)

We also bought dukkboki at the store as well. It was very nice and there were tofu pieces in there but i wouldn't recommend you guys buy it at this place if you're just looking for good dukkboki because you can get better ones at the street vendors. But it was okay :)

We walked around for a little bit and went to Noggi to eat. People usually say 'oh but Moochi is pretty good why don't you guys go there?".
Personally, I don't really like Moochi. It has pretty shitty service and, although it's a very colourful place, there are so little seats and it's pretty cramped. Plus, they have a student deal where they'd give you free toppings if you're a student but you'd have to show your ID card. When me and Kim went there as newbies, we didn't show a card - yet it was obvious we were students because we were wearing uniform- yet they charged as the normal price. The only good stuff that is there is the pomegranate flavoured yoghurt, which is pretty good.

Noggi might look plain from afar but it has loads of good seating - it expands through to the back and also has heating for cold days- and the service is wonderful :) the staff is very friendly and patient with the ordering and they always smalltalk me when i go there which is very cute - plus there's this cute looking guy there as well ahahahs-. They give free toppings for students just by going there WEARING UNIFORM and their biscotti flavoured yoghurt is extremely nice. SO yeah, choose whichever fits you but i prefer Noggi more.

NOGGINOGGINOGGINOGGI
The big size we got (which is not the biggest cause there's a bigger one) comes with 5 toppings and you can get all 4 flavours of yoghurt. For toppings we chose strawberry, oreo, watermelon, marshmallows, and mochi. MOCHI IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST TOPPINGS SO DO TRY IT OUT BECAUSE YOU'D MISS OUT.

So yeah, if you guys want to try Korean food and frozen yoghurt, do go eat at Strathfield :)

IM OUTTIE :)

bytheway, ruthless advertising ahahs but if you guys want to look at more foodpics, JOIN INSTAGRAM and follow me!

Frolicking Around :)

I haven't been food blogging for a while mostly cause my posts have been all bitchrant posts and stuff and cause most of my food stuff are posted on instagram :) . but yeah, im going to try and do many of those during the holidays because i'll be going around a lot. Uhm, just clarifying, i guess most of my food posts won't be all fancy and snazzy because i don't have loads of money to go eat and expensive places all the time. so i guess most of my food adventures are pretty urban and 'streetfoody'- which is good if you want to go so many places and try good things with worthit prices :DD

Uhm so, on the wednesday strike, me and a couple of friends went to Strathfield for Noggi but we kinda spent our money on other stuff ahahhas. Pretty much the whole trip we tried to use as little money as possible while finding good snacks. The first place we went to was for dukkboki; spicy korean rice cakes. You could buy them on a stick, which is usually fried for a bit and them chillied, but we bought a box full of them for $7 at this korean shop next to the pork roll shop.

RICE CAKES YEARH
Honestly it's not that spicy but it's a pretty good price. Outside Strathfield station is also a 'streetfood' shop which sells all kinds of Korean hot snacks. They also sell dukkbokki sticks with sausage for $3 a stick and it's quite nice there. Sarah bought a box of fried chicken ahahas. Don't try it, it tastes so bad and dry and it doesnt look like chicken ahahas.

But if you're looking for snacks in the plaza, there's so many good places to go get some :) The Asian grocers have pretty nice icecreams which are only $1 each so if you'd like to try korean icecream- which is both pretty and nice- i recommend you try these.
The onesies here are green tea icecream and watermelon icecream, which are $2 altogether, and it's honestly sosososos nice. The black 'seeds' in the watermelon icecream are sesame seeds and it might sound weird but it's sososos good. the green tea icecream is so creamy and so noice omgahs.

nts: also try 'melon bar' which is a melon iceblock and the coffee icecream, which could be broken in two so you could share with a mate :)

We also went to buy hot fried snacks, and there was this asian store close next to the checkout place of Woolworths (next to Bakers Delight). The friend stuff was pretty okay but they had the best dukkboki on a stick so far in Strathfield (that i've tried ahahs) they had chicken pieces on there and it was so nice and the dukkboki wasn't as spicy but it depends on who eats it.
So yeah, YAY FOR FINALLY BLOGGING A FOOD JOURNEY :)

I'm outtie :)
